Spiced Date,Walnut & Pecans Streusels Cake



Batter

1  cup chopped dates
½ cup chopped walnuts
½ cup chopped pecans
1 1/2 cup water
2 1/2 cup flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp black pepper, ground
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter
2 eggs
1 tbsp rose water


Streusel

1/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp cinnamon

Method:

 In a pot on medium heat setting, combine dates and water. Allow to cook until mixture resembles a thick puree. When done, remove from heat and allow to cool.In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon, and black pepper.In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar.Add eggs and rose essence. Beat until fluffy.Pour mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients slowly, alternating with the milk, while mixing.Add the date mixture, walnuts, pecans and mix slowly until well combined.In another bowl, combine streusel ingredients using fingertips to create a crumb-like texture.In a greased and floured cake pan, pour batter. Sprinkle streusel on top of batter.Bake on 325F for 50-60 minutes, or until done.
